Annual Fundraiser – Premier Production: “A Night with Notorious Nevadans”

Governors’s Mansion, Carson City
The Friends of the Nevada State Museum will premier an original production, “A Night with Notorious Nevadans,” on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. The evening will include dinner, raffles, great prizes, a cash bar and great conversation with actors portraying historic characters from Nevada’s past. The show will be a Chautauqua-style presentation and you will glimpse the lives and stories of early Nevada figures including John Mackay and Adolph Sutro from Virginia City, early suffragette Sadie Hurst who became Nevada’s first female legislator, and Belle Butler from Tonopah. Tickets for the dinner and show are $40. Doors open at 4:00 pm. Tickets are on sale (cash or check only) at the Nevada State Museum gift shop. This program is the major annual fundraiser for the Friends of Nevada State Museum, a 501(c)(3) educational organization that supports the the State Museum’s goals.

Friends of the Nevada State Museum (FNSM)¬†is a private, non-profit group working in partnership with the Museum staff toward the goal of providing the first-class programs, exhibits and capital improvements our community expects and deserves. Our common mission is to present Nevada’s heritage to diverse audiences through exhibits, educational programs, publications, and research.


FNSM membership benefits include: previews of new exhibits and galleries, a subscription to The Friends newsletter, and association with friendly and supportive Nevada State Museum staff. Membership form


Become a volunteer at the Nevada State Museum, where you may:

– work behind the scenes

– learn from museum professionals

– interact with the public

– share through community outreach


Some of the volunteer activities:

Lead guided tours of the Museum and/or Capitol

Participate in outreach programs with local schools

Work with school children

Volunteer in the museum store or in various departments

Work in special events such as:

  • Coin Show
  • Special Fund Raising Shows and Plays
  • Nevada Day
